Visit the newly restored historical Rankin House

You'll find a pre-Civil War home furnished and equipped
to share the remarkable story of the Rankin family and
their leading role in the antislavery and abolitionist movements. Ripley, where the Rankin House is located, is an Ohio River town in the southwest part of the state that was a hotbed of not-very-secret Underground Railroad activity in the decades before the Civil War.  At the restored Rankin House you can visit one of the best-documented and most active Underground Railroad "stations" in Ohio and get the story of Ohio's role in the abolitionist movement that set the stage for the end of slavery as well as the modern Civil Rights movement.

The Rankin House is open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m. and Sunday Noon–5 p.m. through the end of October, when it will close for the season. Admission is $4, $2/ages 6–12. Ohio History Connection members enjoy free admission.
